MAYDAY PARADE RELEASE VIDEO FOR “LETTING GO”

Floridian emo favorites  Mayday Parade, just made their presence known with the release of a new music video for the track “Letting Go” from their latest album release, Black Lines.

The video for the single showcases the ever powerful vocals of frontman Derek Sanders, but also displays an emotional tone to the visuals. With lyrics such as “If you’re letting go, let me go softly.” definitely paints an emotional picture about lost love and even life changes and decisions, but nevertheless gives us the feeling that we love with every Mayday Parade song.

Mayday Parade are currently finishing up tour alongside The Maine, as well will be having dates this summer on the 2016 Vans Warped Tour…check out dates below!

Melanie Martinez premieres video for ‘Crybaby’

Out of many indie artists, Melanie Martinez has come out on top as one of the biggest of 2016.

After the release of her debut album Cry Baby, the unique female artist has gained a huge following, and fans that are inspired by her unique artistry, creative vision and way of storytelling.  Throughout the album Cry Baby, the audience is pulled into this world of oddities and troubles, and highly relatable family dynamics that are so moving to many in today’s society.

Melanie has released various videos to accompany many tracks on the album, but today was the title track ‘Cry Baby’ and the video can’t be more perfect.

Concept albums always are beautifully done and share a uniqueness to anything else when it comes to videos.

With the story of Martinez’s Cry Baby character… you can’t help but want to know more about her. Throughout other videos such as “Soap”, “Carousel”, “Pity Party” and “DollHouse” you become invested, and with the video for the track “Cry Baby” brings us to the very beginning of the storyline (or so it seems).

Melanie Martinez is currently finishing up her nationwide Cry Baby Tour. Check out the remaining dates here : TOUR DATES

Mariana’s Trench come to Pittsburgh

On Saturday February 6th, 2016 the guys from Mariana’s Trench came to the city with a crazy surprise. Not only were they playing in a reconverted church venue called Mr. Smalls, but the show actually SOLD OUT the evening prior.

For the first time coming to Pittsburgh, PA, Mariana’s Trench was definitely given a warm welcome.

And it didn’t stop there.

Fans flooded in early to VIP passes, to meet the band have a photo session. Then the real fun began when the General Admission was admitted, as the crowd grew to emass the venue.

Mainland, a band hailing from Queens, New York opened up the show at 8:00pm sharp to a sea of people in the sold out crowd. With an old school classic punk vibe, dancing and frontman Jordan Topf‘s unique vocals they pleased the crowd and gained some fans throughout their set. Songs such as “Outcast” showcase the band’s unique California punk sounds as well as their alternative roots, while “Not

Mainland

As Cool As Me” has more of the New York grit and punk sound one would expect from the band. The combination of both unique sounds makes the band definitely one to watch in the future, and I was fortunate enough to see them live and have a great time.

The one downside of Mainland’s set was the set time… as the band only got to play for 30 minutes before packing up the stage to set up for Mariana’s Trench to come on at 9:00pm.

Mariana’s Trench opened up their set with the title track to their 2015 album, “Astoria”, getting the crowd involved the moment they walked on stage. With funny banter between songs, Josh Ramsay definitely made an impression on the crowd in Pittsburgh (there was a long conversation about the frontman’s infamously tight and low pants which was hilarious) and the crowd embraced these Vancouver natives with open arms. With much of the set being off the the newest album Astoria, some older favorites like “Fallout”, “Celebrity Status”, “Desperate Measures” and “Haven’t Had Enough” all made an appearance into the set, as well as many more.

Closing out the set with the phenomenal “End of an Era” was something dreams are made of, and the brillance of Mariana’s Trench harmonies. It was something I know I will never forget and the rest of the crowd that day in Pittsburgh would cherish forever.

After the show, the band even met fans outside, and defintely made their first time to Pittsburgh a memorable event for everyone involved, and Ramsay even said it himself, “We hope to be back very soon. This was incredible.”

It was something memorable to help close out the USA part of the tour before the band headed home to continue the HEY YOU GUYS TOUR in the home country of Canada.

Sum 41 Finishing New Album?

By funding the project via PledgeMusic, Sum 41 vocalist, Deryck Whibley released news about the band’s upcoming fourth album via an interview with Fuse.  By being the first album in 5 years to be released and with Whibley’s battles with overcoming alcoholism, this release is a big one for Sum 41.

Within the interview, Whibley mentioned that the album was coming together which is great news to all the loyal fans who have pledged and donated money to help fund the project, and how the band feels free to work without a record label.

Whibley stated, “We’re on the last home-stretch of the record. It’s getting there. It’s been about a year – since we started working on it. There have been some months off because we had to do shows, some things here and there. If I had to add it all up, it’s been eight months over the course of the last year.”

Jakob Danger previews new music in hilarious music video

Yes, the youngest Armstrong is back with more music. Jakob uploaded a video titled “What Is This” to his youtube channel… and the video features the teenager playing guitar, boredom, dancing to karate fighting with an appearance of mom (Hi Addie :3 ) and it is all kinds of wonderful.

The tune is simplistic and done acoustically, but also fun and upbeat to narrate the hilarity throughout the video. Definitely excited to see what Jakob Danger brings to the music scene with his personality, humor and of course, the alternative Cali-vibed music he is creating. Keep it up Jakob Danger!

3 Songs Released from Jakob Armstrong’s Solo Project: Jakob Danger

Green Day frontman and guitarist, Billie Joe Armstrong has some talented kids with music born in their veins. Both sons, Joey and Jakob, have embarked following in their father’s footsteps to music. While Joey is working with longtime band Swimmer’s (previously Emily’s Army), younger brother Jakob has decided to go the solo route and working on creating his own career as a musician as he recently signed to Burger Records.

Three songs have been released via Soundcloud and Youtube on the younger Armstrong’s solo project, self titled as Jakob Danger. Jakob Armstrong’s songs were posted in late June and the suspense is already building in anticipation for this album to be released.

So far, the sound is phenomenal. Classic Cali vibe and cool acoustic settings, with some songs featuring older brother Joey on the drums. The melodic voice behind “King of the World,” “Waiting to Dance” and “Don’t Try” doesn’t sound like it’s coming from someone who’s just 16 years old…already mind blowing.

Check out the songs below:

This project has promise, and it’s one for any die hard Green Day fan to get behind… already in anticipation for this album’s release!
