Watch : Green Day “Still Breathing”

The monumental release of Green Day‘s 12th studio album, Revolution Radio took diehard fans for a ride, but the band isn’t done just yet. With a huge tour announced for North America, Green Day also released an emotional video for Revolution Radio and a popular fan favorite track, “Still Breathing”.

“Still Breathing” is heavily influenced by Billie Joe Armstrong’s own struggles from the frontman’s 2012/2013 stint in rehab for alcohol abuse and the isolation and lost feeling is heavily mirrored with the music video, setting an emotional tone right off the bat.  The video also showcases other people within the shots, sharing this overwhelming feeling of being lost, which is a very beautiful and creative way to develop the music video along with the emotional tones of the song.

The climax of the video shows fellow Green Day members, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, playing alone in a warehouse…just patiently waiting for their frontman to return.

(Not going to lie, I shed a few tears…Green Day fans it’s a tough one.)

Watch the emotional video for “Still Breathing” below the jump, and make sure to catch Green Day on tour now by purchasing tickets here or purchase Revolution Radio or any cd here!

Music and Media : Green Day’s Billie Joe Has an Instagram Clone

Today in the era of social media, there can be an Instagram account for anything. For businesses, bands, fan pages or even the family pet. I was scrolling through my regular Instagram feed when one fan page I followed posted an interesting picture.

First thinking, ‘Oh it’s a Green Day fan page, it’s an old photo of Billie. That’s awesome.’

Then I looked at the caption, where it mentioned Instagram user Martin Polak.

Fellow punk rocker, Martin Polak (of The Desperate Mind) has a very interesting Instagram account… as he is the spitting image of Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong.

And the resemblance is uncanny.

(Left = Armstrong, Right = Polak)

He often even uploads Green Day covers to the Instagram page as well, even showing off his vocal chops to match the iconic singer.

Green Day fans, if Billie Joe Armstrong ever goes down we have found the perfect replacement thanks to Instagram and the powers of social media. Trust me, I started to get confused that I wasn’t looking at Billie Joe, it makes you take a double take… either way it is incredible.

Music and Media: Green Day’s ‘Basket Case’ sung by movies

With the anniversary of Dookie just a few weeks ago, the internet has been full of Green Day more now than ever. Thanks to Youtube, a bunch of movie clips and creative chops with editing, we get another great Green Day Tribute.

Youtube channel The Unusual Suspect pieced together 109 different movies to put to the tune of ‘Basket Case’. From hitting movies such as Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Wolf Of Wallstreet, Scream, Wayne’s World to some hilarious lines from Disney animated films and Pirates of the Caribbean, very few movies are untouched.

But together it creates this masterpiece and we couldn’t be happier :

Happy Birthday Dookie!

The iconic 1994 album from Green Day turns 22 today and punk fans alike are rejoicing.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says of the disc, “Back then, I just wanted to write songs I could be proud of and be able to play in five years.”

By the time of release, Dookie peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and went on to reach Diamond certification for shipping over 10 million copies and received the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1995.

Today, the album has sold over 20 million copies and is still accredited to be the album that skyrocketed the band to mainstream fame.

From legendary tracks like “Longview” or “Welcome to Paradise”, there is a little piece of Dookie era Green Day that every fan loves and carries with them.

A few Dookie and Green Day tributes were uploaded in the album’s honor for the anniversary on social media.

Take a look at some tributes below :

Thank you Green Day for making such a legendary album that continues to live on in punk music history.

Green Day studio rumors? Armstrong hints at potential album in works for 2016

Punk trio Green Day have always held a huge spot within the music scene. With their latest studio albums, a trilogy titled “Uno”, “Dos” and “Tre” being released in 2012…the legends might be working on some new material.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong posted a selfie via his Instagram of himself within the studio, with the simple caption of “January 2016”.  With this minor photo, it has fans hyped and curious on if there will be an upcoming Green Day project and album in the works.

Only time will tell if new information will be revealed from the members of Green Day. Fingers crossed that it will be a new album in the works.

In the meantime, check out the making of one of the band’s most iconic albums, “American Idiot”, in the documentary Heart Like A Hand Grenade that was released earlier this year in October of 2015. Or listen to the holiday track that was released by the band on Christmas Eve back in December HERE.

Music and Media: Adele’s “Hello” Gets The Pop Punk Treatment

“Hello” has been topping charts and has been an all out media sensation with Adele’s new album “25”. Various covers have sprung up all over the internet, parodies, Tumblr posts you name it, it is out there.

Well prepare to give it one more try as YouTube cover genius Anthony Vincent has put a pop punk spin on things, giving his own Green Day circa “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” era inspired take on the track and it is amazingly well executed. From vocal mimicking of Green Day’s own Billie Joe Armstrong, to guitar riffs and the heartbreaking lyrics of Adele, this “Hello” cover is definitely one that will be remembered.

3 Songs Released from Jakob Armstrong’s Solo Project: Jakob Danger

Green Day frontman and guitarist, Billie Joe Armstrong has some talented kids with music born in their veins. Both sons, Joey and Jakob, have embarked following in their father’s footsteps to music. While Joey is working with longtime band Swimmer’s (previously Emily’s Army), younger brother Jakob has decided to go the solo route and working on creating his own career as a musician as he recently signed to Burger Records.

Three songs have been released via Soundcloud and Youtube on the younger Armstrong’s solo project, self titled as Jakob Danger. Jakob Armstrong’s songs were posted in late June and the suspense is already building in anticipation for this album to be released.

So far, the sound is phenomenal. Classic Cali vibe and cool acoustic settings, with some songs featuring older brother Joey on the drums. The melodic voice behind “King of the World,” “Waiting to Dance” and “Don’t Try” doesn’t sound like it’s coming from someone who’s just 16 years old…already mind blowing.

Check out the songs below:

This project has promise, and it’s one for any die hard Green Day fan to get behind… already in anticipation for this album’s release!
