STREAM : Romance & Rebellion – “Boys Don’t Cry”

Finding a name for themselves in the social media digital age, Los Angeles musicians Romance and Rebellion (David LaViola (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Aaron Medina (Guitar, Harmony Vocals), Aleksander James (Guitar, Harmony Vocals), Brandon Davis (Bass, Vocals), Kyle Jordan Mueller (Drums) broke into the music scene in 2015. After the release of their debut EP in June 2016, they had to opportunity to take the stage at influential festivals such as Warped Tour and SXSW, and even headlined Emo Nite LA.  With a few years now under their belt, Romance and Rebellion are currently promoting their sophomore EP release, Amps & Anthems.

The lead single from the record is titled “Boys Don’t Cry” and is dedicated to breaking down the traditional gender stereotypes associated with daily interactions between men and women. Highlighting this factor, LaViola shares the deeper message behind the track stating, Boys don’t have to be ‘boys’…girls don’t have to be ‘girls’…and everyone should be able to rock a little pink.  ‘BOYS DON’T CRY’ is an anthem for anyone who is anything but normal.”

Amps & Anthems is detailed as having the right mixture of ” emo-studded angst, dripping with candy-coated heartache, wrapped in youthfully rebellious pop rock” says LaViola, as the album signifies a huge stepping stone in the band’s overall career and the path to success.

Natives of Minneapolis, Household ( vocalist and bassist Joshua Gilbert, drummer Matthew Anthony, and guitarist Nathanael Olsen) are eagerly awaiting the release of their upcoming record, Everything A River Should Be, due out later this month on February 23rd through Equal Vision Records. Showcasing their newest single “Dark Matter”, the single serves as an excellent preview of what is yet to come with the full release.

The run kicks off in Santa Ana on February 27th and concludes in Las Vegas on March 31st. For more tour dates check out Equal Visions webpage or the full list of dates below. SPOTLIGHT : Bryan Howell and The Standalones

Showcasing artists in the scene is a huge part of this blog, and today we will dive into the story and inspiration behind musician and alt. rocker, Bryan Howell. Hailing originally from New York, the musician made the move to the big city of Nashville, TN for a chance at recognition and stardom in his music career. Being inspired by vintage rock and roll, Howell makes a name for himself through putting everything he has out into his music, which is displayed clearly in his new album entitled Take The Risk.

With a few singles released under the name Bryan Howell & The Standalones, this alternative rocker has a shot at making it into on-air radio, with the grit and guitars very reminiscent of many rock and alternative icons.  The track “Apologies And Promises” can appeal to almost any generation who just loves the classic rock and roll sound, while Howell’s other single, “Your Saturday Night” gives a faster-paced sound with the same classic grit many will enjoy. With Howell’s unique voice, “Your Saturday Night” makes it a great track to add to any alt. rock lover’s collection.
